How to Upload an Existing World to Your Satisfactory Server
This guide will walk you through the process of uploading a saved world file to your dedicated Satisfactory game server hosted by ChicagoServers.
Note: These instructions are based on Coffee Stain Studios guidelines as a temporary solution until the "Manage Saves" feature is fully developed.
Key Definitions:
- Session Name: Embedded inside the save file and cannot be altered without a save editor.
- Save File Name: The file itself, ending in
.sav
.
Step 1: Locate Your Save File on Your PC
- Open Satisfactory and go to the Load tab in the main menu.
- Identify the Save File you want to upload by its Session Name. For instance, the Session Name might be "My world," while the Save File could be "myworld.sav."
- Locate the Save File Directory:
- On Windows, save files can be found here:
C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\(Steam or Epic ID)

Step 2: Upload the Save File to Your ChicagoServers Satisfactory Server
Note: Ensure your server has started at least once so the necessary folders are created.
- Access the ChicagoServers Control Panel for your Satisfactory game server.
- Navigate to Server Files in the control panel.
- Upload the Save File:
- Drag and drop the
.sav
file into the directory:/config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server
- Tip: For large files, consider using FTP for a smoother upload.

Step 3: Verify the Save File on Different Platforms

Step 4: Test the Uploaded Save File
- Start Your Server from the ChicagoServers Control Panel.
- Access Server Manager from the main menu in Satisfactory, then select Server Settings.
- Enter the Session Name of the uploaded world. The server will locate the file with the matching Session Name.
