How to Upload an Existing World to Your Satisfactory Server

This guide will walk you through the process of uploading a saved world file to your dedicated Satisfactory game server hosted by ChicagoServers.

Note: These instructions are based on Coffee Stain Studios guidelines as a temporary solution until the "Manage Saves" feature is fully developed.

Key Definitions:

  • Session Name: Embedded inside the save file and cannot be altered without a save editor.
  • Save File Name: The file itself, ending in .sav.

Step 1: Locate Your Save File on Your PC

  1. Open Satisfactory and go to the Load tab in the main menu.
  2. Identify the Save File you want to upload by its Session Name. For instance, the Session Name might be "My world," while the Save File could be "myworld.sav."
  3. Locate the Save File Directory:
    • On Windows, save files can be found here:
      • C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\(Steam or Epic ID)

Step 2: Upload the Save File to Your ChicagoServers Satisfactory Server

Note: Ensure your server has started at least once so the necessary folders are created.

  1. Access the ChicagoServers Control Panel for your Satisfactory game server.
  2. Navigate to Server Files in the control panel.
  3. Upload the Save File:
    • Drag and drop the .sav file into the directory: /config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server
    • Tip: For large files, consider using FTP for a smoother upload.
    • If you need, we have a guide on connecting to your server's FTP.

Step 3: Verify the Save File on Different Platforms

For guidance on platforms other than Windows, refer to the official Satisfactory documentation from Coffee Stain Studios.

Step 4: Test the Uploaded Save File

  1. Start Your Server from the ChicagoServers Control Panel.
  2. Access Server Manager from the main menu in Satisfactory, then select Server Settings.
  3. Enter the Session Name of the uploaded world. The server will locate the file with the matching Session Name.

You're now ready to join your Satisfactory server via the Server Manager in the main menu. If you need help troubleshooting the import please let us know and we'll be happy to assist!
