Your server's address (its IP and port, such as 203.0.113.25:7777) is at the top of its page in the control panel.
- Start Terraria and choose Multiplayer, then Join via IP.
- Pick the character to play.
- Type the server's IP (the part before the colon) and press Accept.
- Type the port (the number after the colon, often
7777) and press Accept. - If the server has a join password, type it when asked.
Can't join?
- "You are not using the same version as this server": your game and the server must run the same Terraria version. Steam updates your game by itself, so the server usually needs updating: see How to change your Terraria server's settings and version. On the TShock profile, a brand-new Terraria version can only be played once TShock has caught up.
- Wrong password: the join password is on the Startup tab under Settings (click Show).
- Nothing happens: check that the server says Running at the top of its page, and look at the Console tab for errors. The Troubleshoot tab can tell you why a server keeps stopping.
